Kidderminster cleaner wins Theo Paphitis' Small Business Sunday

A NATURAL household cleaning business based in Kidderminster has won a Small Business Sunday Award from Dragons' Den star Theo Paphitis. Nicky Morgan, who runs Mrs Sparkle's cleaning service and natural products, was "shocked and thrilled" when the retail tycoon gave her a welcome publicity boost by selecting her company as one of his Small Business Sunday winners last month and reposting her message to his 500,000 followers. Since Theo's Twitter boost, Nicky says Mrs Sparkle has gained many more followers and has seen a surge in online orders for her eco-friendly handmade cleaning products. Nicky, 42, who started her cleaning service 11 years ago, said: "I have been using my own eco cleaning products in my day job as a domestic cleaner for a couple of years with brilliant feedback from customers so decided to offer them for sale to the public. "Reducing waste and chemical pollution as well as all environmental issues has always been a big part of my life so to be able to directly help towards easing these problems is brilliant. "We launched a few items in June last year via our website and have had a wonderful nine months since. "We are stocked in other online eco conscious retailers and have since expanded our range greatly. "Due to the success of our own products, we now offer an eco shop on our site allowing customers to get everything they need for easy and affordable green household items. "All of our own products are handmade and so it is thrilling to have support and recognition from Theo. "It can be tough to raise awareness of our brand when current circumstances allow only online sales but Theo's backing has been an amazing boost." Nicky runs her small cleaning business alongside husband Jay, and says their products are based on "old-fashioned cleaning - like what our grandparents would have done", using ingredients such as lemon and baking soda, blended with essential oils. Mrs Sparkle is one of over 3,000 recipients of the Small Business Sunday Award and now has its own profile on Theo's website theopaphitissbs.com. Nicky will also be invited to an exclusive annual networking event. Small business champion and chairman of Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue, Theo said: "We are thrilled to welcome new Small Business Sunday members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. "My vision is that everyone who has ever won an SBS retweet from me becomes part of a friendly club - like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. "The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish Mrs Sparkle's Natural Products every success."
